Welcoming Watermelon Appetizer

Ingredients

Watermelon slices, or one watermelon cut into slices

Flora balsamic glaze

Fresh Mozzarella cheese

Bread (any type will do)

Cookie cutters

Bamboo kabob sticks

Optional ingredients

Garlic powder

Salt

Pepper

Olive oil/Butter

Steps

  1. Cut bread into small squares or use cookie cutters for shape you would like ( I used about 4 pieces of whole wheat bread)

  2. I put olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper on my bread slices and put them in a pan with a small amount of butter or olive oil until brown on each side (Think of these as mini toasts)

  3. Use cookie cutter to cut your choice of size and shape from the watermelon slices ( I used hearts)

  4. Cut mozzarella slices and pick about ten Basil leafs

  5. Use kabob sticks to place ingredients, first watermelon slice, mozzarella cheese, basil leaf and toast, the trick is not to have the toast against the watermelon or it will get soggy

  6. Once on a plate about 3-4 kabob sticks full, use balsamic glaze and olive oil and spread over the top (see picture for reference)

This easy appetizer I came up with on a Saturday when my husband mentioned he was hungry but we had a late lunch with friends to go to so he didn’t want to eat anything heavy. I happen to have these ingredients in my fridge and it all came together so well! This is so easy and looks like it took a while to prepare but it only took around 15 minutes.
